2017 NaNoWriMo Competition
I stumbled upon a NaNoWriMo contest for people who write horror, dark fantasy, gothic, black comedy, paranormal, or other types of dark fiction at Gallows Hill.
The grand prize for the competition includes:
- $1,500 Editorial package including developmental and line editing
- Publishing consultation
- Certificate of Awesomeness
- Free print issue of Gallows Hill
- Write up in February issue of Gallows Hill
I think the certificate of awesomeness would make entering worthwhile.
Check out the Gallows Hill website for additional information and to see the prizes for the runners-up (2nd-5th place) and honorable mentions.
If you’re participating in NaNoWriMo, here’s a post I wrote with some tools and tips to help you through the month. Best of luck!
That sounds really cool!
I know. It makes me wish just a little that I was participating in NaNoWriMo this year. If I decide to participate in the future, I’ll have to remember to look up contests and prizes for the event to give a little extra motivation while I’m writing.
I went to their website this morning while prepping for my post. I was amazed at the number of people who participated last year. That’s a lot of words to fling down in 30 days. The odds of winning are about like finding a diamond in a goat’s butt, but I guess it’s fun searching. 🙂
I had looked at the numbers of participants in NaNoWriMo on the official NaNoWriMo website, and was surprised both in the large number of people who participate each year, and by the fact that fewer than 10 percent of the participants achieve the goal.
I think it’s great that so many people are at least trying to push themselves to write in November though. That’s an achievement in and of itself.
