Dusty Poems 22
The poem below is from the Dusty Poems series, a collection of poems I wrote many years ago, long before I knew how much of a force poetry would be in my life. Iโve enjoyed going through these old poems that contain a completely different voice and style than I write poetry now, but have been interesting to reflect on. I hope you enjoy them, too.
Time escapes me
With every breath I take
Another second, minute, hour
Wasted
My eyes close tightly
Warm tears rushing out
Itโs the same feeling
Over and over
Through all the years of my life
The tides roll in
And the tides roll out
Years go by
One by one
And still I know
Still I can feel it
Iโm failing myself again
Repeatedly

I can definitely relate! It’s been a while since I’ve visited. I trust that all’s well with you. I’ll try my best to visit often when I resettle as I was in the process of relaunching the blog.
It’s always so good to hear from you! I hope you have a wonderful New Year and that you’re doing well too!
Thank you, my friend, and same to you! I’ve been a tad bit busy lately, hence my late responses, but I’m well otherwise. How have you been lately?
The year started out a little bumpy, and if you’d asked me yesterday I might have had a different response. But I just found out this morning that my horror novel has been accepted for publication, so suddenly my outlook on the year is much improved. I’ll have to write a post about it, but you get to be the first to hear about it on this website. ๐ You’ll have to let me know what you’ve been up to when you get a chance.
Mandie! This is AWESOME news! I am so happy to hear this! So very happy for you!! ๐๐ Thank you for sharing your good news with me.
Well, to be honest, I’ve been busy with so many things. My mom broke her wrist, so I’ve been helping her on a daily basis. The year has started well despite that setback, but I hope to be more active soon.
Thank you!!
I’m so sorry to hear that your mom broke her wrist. I’m thankful that you were able to be there to help her though. I’ve personally come to think that the one thing that I will never regret spending time on is family. Even if I had something else planned, I know when I’m older I won’t even remember the task I wanted to do. But I will remember the time I spent with my family and I never want to think “I should have spent more time with them when I had the chance.”
I hope your mom fully recovers and I look forward to hearing what projects you take on next!
You’re welcome, my friend!
I agree! Whenever I tend to look back, my favorite or happiest moments were those spent with family. So true, and that’s why I enjoy spending as much time as I can with them.
Thank you, Mandie. She has a check-up on Friday, so we’re hoping for the best when it comes to removing the cast. I have a few projects in mind, but they’ll have to wait for now. Enjoy the rest of your week! ๐๐
